Give us an honest appraisal of your journey around trying to produce your Capstone Project. What problems have you encountered? How will you solve them? What aha’s have you encountered as you watch mini-documentaries and past capstone videos? How are they different? Think about who you are creating the mini-documentary for? What essential points will be most important to them and how will you address them in your storytelling?
I am struggling with how to do the documentary video without any access to students, a classroom, children even. I am not sure how to create a shot list when most of the shots I would want to make are impossible due to the above restrictions. Had I known this is what we would be doing, I would have shot footage of my students working on various tasks throughout the bit of in person classes as I could have. I'm not sure how to do this. I am also still working on my paper (though this is my fault) which makes it difficult to do some of these big projects. I have been thinking about the documentary for the past week and trying to come up with ideas that would work. I have thought about recreations of moments in my classroom using stop motion, but I feel like this would not be professional enough. I have thought about the video being directed towards kids showing them that math can be fun. I have also thought about directing the video towards teachers in encouraging them to step away from traditional methods of teaching and moving towards a more inquiry based method and how that can help with engagement. I'm just not sure of the direction to take and I am being stopped by my own brain being stuck on no access to kids. I know in the end I will be able to figure something out though. I am already thinking about trying to reach out to some of my students to ask if they would be willing to hop on Zoom and answer some questions for me for this. I fee like a few of them would do that for me. Being as my focus is on changing students mindsets about math and helping them to engage more, a large part of my video should feature students and what I did with them. I need help with brainstorming ideas for how to achieve what I want considering my limitations. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Write a blog review of the logo making software you chose and what hurdles you encountered and your overall experience
I am still playing around with different logo making software. I have played around mostly with Google Drawings as I know it the best, but there are some limitations. Procreate is another one I am playing around with on my iPad. I am just learning how it works at the moment though and have not really started trying to actually brainstorm a logo. I have always been more able to do the technical aspects of creative things better than the actual creative side. I know with something like a logo, I will need to make myself reach out to people and brainstorm what I can actually do for my logo. Once I have an idea, finding the right tool will be easy. I will likely stick with Procreate and Google Drawings to complete my logo until I run into something that may require the use of alternative apps. I definitely think I have an advantage with having both an iPad and an apple pencil because of how much easier it will be to manipulate and draw what I envision. |
